RAPE;
With prior research and investigations held in a number of
counties, one of the newest NGOs in the country and I have come to the
conclusion that most girls are subjected to this heinous crime because of lack
of secure sleeping quarters plus their insecure environs. Putting up easily
accessible homeless shelters where they can turn in for the night with a warm
bed and equally warm dinner and breakfast before they go out during the day to
chase their endeavours. They don’t need to be caged in a home with supervision
that probably never happens because they still get hurt even with the
‘supervision’ put in place.
We are also advocating for self-defense classes. Where a
couple of trained individuals, l can give them classes either once or twice a week.
At GGFI the intention is going the entire 10yards in strengthening and
elevating the girl child. Most of what we’ve ALL seen and heard is bogus
because just feeding, clothing and putting a roof over their heads just doesn’t
cut it for this particular crime.
A legit security company with well-trained security guards
should be put in place to protect the perimeter of the shelters at all times.
So that they can have someone to be accountable for incase anything of any
detrimental sort happens to the girl child while they are on duty. That should
make them more zealous with their work.
The deployment or implementation of the 'nyumba kumi'
initiative would also help the girls keep each other close and every
chaperon/guardian would work and focus better and keep a close on the girls
they are responsible for; and learn about them individually intimately which
would also help pin point the areas where they need help away from the usual
basic needs. The nyumba kumi initiative also works to create situations where
strong friendships could be cultivated and once people care about each other
they like being around each other which would help reduce the girls wondering
off alone more to less and endangering themselves.
Yours thoughtfully,
